Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, will be the new headquarters for the U.S. Air Force's Space Command.

Pentagon surveyors met with San Antonio officials this week to discuss the city’s bid to house U.S. Space Command. San Antonio is one of six finalists competing for its new headquarters.

The official moniker, announced by Vice President Pence at a White House ceremony, comes one year after the creation of the newest military branch. The name drew raised eyebrows online.

Six locations have made it past the first round of cuts and are still under consideration to become the new headquarters for U.S. Space Command — including Joint Base San Antonio.
