The politics of ending vaccine requirements in Texas is in conflict with the reality of a raging measles outbreak in West Texas. Texans for Vaccine Choice, a powerful political action committee, has been leading the fight to weaken vaccination requirements.

Republicans decided to not use voting machines and instead count ballots by hand.

The incumbent congressman was censured by the Texas Republican Party for supporting a gun safety bill and same sex marriage. Now he's being targeted by four primary challengers to represent the border district.

More recently, the party has been engulfed in controversy and infighting — from spats over Attorney General Ken Paxton’s impeachment to ties to white supremacists.
