San Antonio's traditional Independence Day festivities included the U.S. Postal Service's dedication of new flag-themed Forever stamps.

The U.S. Postal Service cites the late Supreme Court justice's legacy of "important majority opinions advancing equality and strong dissents on socially controversial rulings."

Artist Rafael López used his upbringing in Mexico City for inspiration. It took two years of development before the set launched, and each stamp will carry on a cultural legacy forever.

The stamp will be dedicated in a first-day-of-issue ceremony held in WQED's Fred Rogers Studio in Pittsburgh, where Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was filmed.

A limited-edition stamp from the U.S. Postal Service, which was intended to honor the late poet, bears a quote that was actually written by a different author.
