The San Antonio River Authority, Bexar County and the City of San Antonio are almost ready to unveil the first completed segment of a 4-phase plan to improve San Pedro Creek.
The project aims to mitigate flooding, catalyze economic development and improve water quality. Public art in the park is curated to express San Antonio's "authentic" culture and the creek's historical significance.
San Pedro Creek Culture Park's first segment is located on the western edge of downtown, from the flood tunnel inlet at North Santa Rosa Street to Houston Street.
The second segment from Houston Street to Nueva Street is currently under construction. SARA hopes to finish the entire project in 2024.
San Pedro Creek Culture Park's grand opening event is Saturday, May 5. More information here.
Guests:
- Abigail Bush, engineer for the San Antonio River Authority and utility coordinator on the San Pedro Creek Improvements Project
- Carrie Brown, public art curator for the San Pedro Creek Culture Park
