San Antonio's former Brooks Air Force Base, now simply known as "Brooks," is a mixed-use development community open to visitors and new residents.
The 1,300-acre area and the surrounding region is one of San Antonio's emerging activity centers and a major catalyst for growth on the Southside.
A city-led effort to redevelop the area began last year and is currently in the recommendations and strategies phase, seeking potential funding sources and suggestions from the community on actionable ideas to move the plan forward.
What progress has been made and what do the residents want to see happen in their community?
How can transportation, housing and economic development be improved in the area? How can Brooks be accessible for all San Antonio citizens?
A community meeting to discuss the Brooks Area Regional Center Plan is scheduled for Monday, April 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stinson Airport.
Guests:
- Rudy Niño, assistant director for the City of San Antonio Department of Planning
- Connie Gonzalez, director of public relations for Brooks
- Marques Mitchell, director of planning and development at Brooks
