Memorial Day weekend was filled with thunderstorms in Bexar County. The National Weather Service confirmed about 2.5 inches of rainfall on Sunday night — and a tornado with up to 100 mph winds touched down on the western and northwestern part of the county.
CPS Energy worked through Memorial Day to restore power to thousands of customers in the area. Several roads were closed throughout the day due to mild flooding. More than 63,000 customers lost power on Sunday night, but most had power restored by Monday afternoon.
In addition to the tornado that went through Palomino Path, NWS meterologist Eric Platt said microburst winds also caused significant damage.
"We had one home that had some pretty significant roof damage to it. Lots of fences down — that sort of thing," he said.
