The Alamo Plaza will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Officials with the City of San Antonio announced the Alamo Plaza will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the hours of 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. It will close nightly until Sunday, June 7.

The closure is a precautionary measure to minimize the possibility of civil disturbance and damage to sensitive structures, officials said.

The closure will be reassessed later this week to determine if any closures beyond the weekend are necessary.

The San Antonio Police Department will increase staffing in the downtown area to mitigate any potential disturbances.
