San Antonio River Authority Offers Feral Hog Help To Landowners

Feral hogs cause $52 million worth of damage to the agricultural industry in Texas, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.  To help limit property damage, the San Antonio River Authority offers the Feral Hog Management Program to landowners in Bexar, Wilson, Karnes, and Goliad counties.
The program is free to landowners, and trappers work with individual landowners to determine which technique works best for them.  Landowners can also set traps themselves with a system that includes a rooter gate, 6-foot panels, T-posts, and a game camera.  Landowners are encouraged to call their local Wildlife Services Office to learn more.
Since the Feral Hog Management Program was first adopted in 2015, trappers with Wildlife Services have caught over 1000 hogs.  And currently, trappers are working on 35 properties covering over 83,000 acres.
