It's not often a university band shows up during football season to celebrate a road improvement project, but in this case, it's fitting to offer a musical accompaniment to the unveiling of the construction project because it includes a major public art exhibit. The 3-1/2 miles of Hausman Road between Loop 1604 and I-10 has been renovated with bridges, flood control measures, and traffic improvements -- but it also provides new enjoyment for runners and cyclists in the area.... with a series of 13-foot-tall metal sculptures inspired by the live oak trees along Leon Creek.
Hausman Road is a major artery for traffic going to and from UTSA. At a cost of $73.5 million, the renovation is the hailed as the largest voter-approved roadway project in the City's history.
The full project and the art installation will be unveiled at a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 14.
