Farmers and ranchers in South Texas are expected to gather later this week in Jourdanton to discuss property-rights legislation for the upcoming session.
Eminent domain has been a long-running objective among those who own property in Texas. Gene Hall, spokesman for Texas Farm Bureau, which insures many rural properties, says the group’s legislative agenda is still pursuing the rights of the little guy:

Hall says legal experts will explain options to the group, which hopes to present a proposal to the legislature in 2017. The first meeting, hosted jointly by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Farm Bureau, and the Texas Wildlife Association, is in Jourdanton Thursday night. Hall says several meetings are planned around Texas over the next two months.
