The Source: Appeals Court Declares 'San Antonio Four' Innocent

Texas Public Radio

Ruling in favor of the "San Antonio Four," the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals exonerated the women who were wrongfully imprisoned for nearly 15 years.

In 1994, Elizabeth Ramirez, Cassandra Rivera, Kristie Mayhugh and Anna Vasquez were accused and convicted of sexually assaulting Ramirez’s two young nieces. One of the nieces later recanted her story and in 2013, three of the women were released while Vasquez was released on parole.

A documentary about their search for exoneration, "Southwest of Salem," was covered by Texas Public Radio

Guest: Mike Ware, executive director for the Innocence Project of Texas and attorney for the San Antonio Four
