Methodist Hospital Set To Begin $200 Million Expansion Project
The Methodist Hospital is about to undergo big changes to its property in the Medical Center. In the largest expansion in its history, the hospital will spend $200 million to construct new towers and renovate its existing building.
PalmiraArellano, vice-president of marketing and public relations at the Methodist Hospital, said the renovation and construction project will add two patients towers – one for adults and one for children.
"It’ll change the entire look and footprint of the hospital and it will expand the campus by about 445,000 square feet," Arellano said.
Arellano said most of the patient rooms will be private once construction is completed, and the hospital is expanding its emergency room space.
"We’re also building a nine-story parking garage, which is three stories underground that will help patients with their way-finding to the surgical suites and radiology," she said.
Overall, the addition will increase the size of the campus by about 40 percent. The three-year construction project begins in January.
