Searching for the best school for your child? Education is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. Different children have different learning abilities, different skill sets, and different needs. Fortunately, San Antonio is now home to more than 170 schools of choice and enrollment season for the 2026-2027 academic year is here! To help families through the overwhelming process of evaluating educational options, School Discovery Network (Formerly San Antonio Charter Moms) kicks off its popular School Discovery Day Series. Many people don’t know that enrollment season for the upcoming school year starts in the fall. That’s why School Discovery Day at the San Antonio Zoo is the perfect place to start your school search!
School Discovery Day is a FREE event where families can meet representatives from over 30 top San Antonio schools while enjoying a free day of fun at the San Antonio Zoo, with pre-registration. The event allows families to ask questions, get on interest lists and learn about the application process and deadlines for enrollment season. Additionally, families can receive hands-on guidance from the School Discovery Network team on navigating the nonprofit’s online tools and resources designed to simplify the search and application process. There will be a wide range of school models represented at each event including: open enrollment public charter schools, in-district charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, homeschooling, and early childhood education programs. Staff from these schools will be ready to answer questions about what learning models they offer and what makes their school unique.
Guests can also enjoy beats by the young DJs of The AM Project, explore the San Antonio Zoo, get creative with face painting, and enter for a chance to win a raffle prize. Come for the information, stay for the fun! To see a list of participating schools, visit the School Discovery Network School Discovery Day Page to plan your visit.
Bring your projects and supplies, and mingle with other needlecrafters for an afternoon of sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.! All skill levels are welcome in this self-directed meetup. This is not an instructional class. The target audience is adults but teens are also welcome to attend with an adult.
This program will be hosted the third Saturday of each month at 12pm, unless otherwise noted in the Thousand Oaks Library calendar. Please call Thousand Oaks Library for more information.
