Join us the last Saturday of every month as we read our way through the stacks of the library! Each month we read a book from a different genre and meet on the 2nd floor of the Central library to discuss our thoughts with our fellow book lovers. This month’s genre is romance, and our selection is You, Again by Kate Goldbeck. Through The Stacks Book Club is a fun, relaxed space and finishing the book is definitely not required. All adults welcome!

We will discuss this book on Sept 27th, from 2- 3:30PM!

This is a 5K benefiting brain cancer research in the community

Join us for SNIPSA’s biggest event of the year, Race for the Rescues! This annual fundraiser raises critical awareness for San Antonio’s homeless animal population, with proceeds directly supporting our spay/neuter outreach and providing essential veterinary care for rescue animals. Whether you run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, you can make a difference. (And yes, your dog can race too!)

Join us for an in-person nature walk led by Cleve Powell to learn about the Native Grasses of Hardberger Park. Cleve will talk about the parts of grass plants and how to identify various species, then lead us on a slow-paced walk through the Savanna Restoration area. This talk is part of our monthly 4th Saturday Nature Walk series provided by our Alamo Area Master Naturalists and the Alamo Group of the Sierra Club, with the Native Plant Society of Texas, San Antonio.

Each year, SAJF distributes grants to nonprofits in the San Antonio region for specific projects that will benefit economically, emotionally and/or physically disadvantaged individuals. In 2024-2025, we distributed $75,000 to 14 nonprofits in our community! We are pleased to announce that we will again be accepting applications for grants. Grant applications may be submitted by organizations recognized as tax exempt under internal revenue code 501(c)3 seeking funding of $20,000 or less. Now is the time to get started! Grant applications are due by November 1, 2025! Grant application and guidelines are available on the SAJF website at www.sajuniorforum.org. Questions? Discover Lockhart State Park with ASL interpreters!
Lockhart State Park is hosting a special day of programs for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community on September 27. Join us to take a guided hike and discover an ancient weapon! No registration required.

Event Schedule:

9am - 10:30am: Guided Hike. Join us to learn more about the history of Lockhart State Park with a guided hike! This hike meets at the Creekview Trailhead and is 3/4-mile long on moderate terrain. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.

11am - 12pm: Ancient Spear Throwing. Join us to learn the basics of prehistoric hunting with an atlatl, and try it for yourself! This program meets in the archery range, which is just behind our park pool.

Each activity will have an ASL Interpreter, but for other reasonable modification requests or information related to accessibility, email accessibility@tpwd.texas.gov.

Fees: This event is FREE. Park entrance fees will be waived for all participants! Please still check in at park HQ before proceeding to the activities.

Calling all green thumbs and aspiring green thumbs, join us for our Rooted in Texas, Drive-Thru Plant Pick-Up at our headquarters, 900 East Quincy Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, starting at 9 a.m.

We will be giving away 2 FREE Texas native plants per person + a swag bag full of EAA goodies, while supplies last! Each guest in a vehicle will receive a random combination of 1 sun plant and 1 shade plant. (Plant offerings subject to change)

So, stop by EAA headquarters on Saturday, September 27, 2025, starting at 9 a.m., and pick up your 2 FREE Texas native plants to spruce up your garden or yard!

Things to remember:
- First come, first served, and while supplies last!
- Attending our event is simple, all you have to do is drive-thru!

We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate our milestone 70th anniversary on September 27th and 28th at the San Antonio Garden Center 3310 N. New Braunfels, San Antonio, TX.

Join us for a fantastic weekend filled with a variety of orchid and plant vendors, demonstrations on potting, mounting, and much more along with a chance to win fabulous prizes in our raffles.

Our celebration begins Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
