A charity 5-K run and 2-mile walk to benefit local cancer patients in need of financial support makes it San Antonio debut this spring.

Partners in Care will host the inaugural Head & Neck 5K/2-Mile Walk at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 7 at Pearsall Park. Registration is now open.

Entry fee is $35 for adults and $25 for youth 17 years of age and under. Children under 5 years of age are free. Fees to pre-register 10 days prior to the event are discounted $5.

The new South Texas event is part of the charitable foundation’s spring season of races nationwide. Additional events are happening in California, Colorado, North and South Carolina, Washington state and West Virginia.

The race series was started 11 years ago to bring awareness to head and neck cancers and raise money for those unable to afford costly recovery therapies that often aren’t covered by insurance or which require a very high copay.
