First Friday Concert Series at St. John’s Lutheran Church has resumed

St. John’s Lutheran Church sponsors the free concerts in the church’s historic sanctuary on the first Friday of each month, September through May (with skip in January because of the holidays). St. John’s has produced and offered these First Friday concerts since 2007, with only one interruption in 2020 because of Covid. The Trinity University Chamber Singers are comprised of 32 undergraduate musicians, performing music of a more highly specialized nature than that performed by the other choral organizations. With over 20 different academic majors represented, this ensemble truly epitomizes the liberal arts experience combined with a commitment to choral artistry of the highest quality. They frequently perform at local campus and civic functions, and enjoy touring nationally, throughout the region, and abroad. They have given invited performances for the National Collegiate Choral Organization, the Texas Music Educators Association, and were ensemble-in-residence for the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria. This June, the choir will collaborate with the New York Chamber Orchestra as the featured ensemble for a performance of Mozart's Requiem at Carnegie Hall, presenting an eclectic program of a cappella choral works. “Music has an ability to soothe people in times of uncertainty," Seighman says. "Very often, the most expressive aspects to choral singing are the harmonies created with one another." https://youtu.be/xbMd1Fs1zAM https://youtu.be/VlWYjUKgt4I
