Colin Hancock and the Joymakers

Colin Hancock and the Joymakers

Colin Hancock will lead the Joymakers for the Austin Traditional Jazz Society on Sunday, March 17 from 2 to 5 pm at Ben Hur Shrine Temple, 7811 Rockwood Lane, Austin.  Colin Hancock, a taken jazz musician on a number of instruments, is also a noted jazz historian.  He was recently nominated for a Grammy Award, and is a recent recipient of the Independent Initiatives Award from the Association for Recorded Sound Collections.

The Joymakers specialize in the music of college jazz bands of the 1920s.  This should be a fun afternoon of jazz played by experts.

There is plenty of free parking at Ben Hur. The hall contains a large dance floor. Snacks, beer, wine and sodas are available. Patrons can bring their own food. ATJS concerts are family-friendly.

Memberships for the remainder of the ATJS season are available by mail, through the Society website at www.atjs.org, or at the door. Online memberships can be paid through PayPal. Mail-ins and in-person applications can be paid by cash or check. Guests can enter for $12 and college students with ID and members of the Austin Jazz Society are $5.
