The second largest software company in the world is relocating its company headquarters to Austin from California.
Oracle announced the move late last week. According to the Austin American-Statesman, the company already has about 2,500 employees who live in Austin.
Oracle did not provide a timeline of the anticipated move. The current company headquarters is located in Redwood City, California.
In a statement, Gov. Greg Abbott welcomed Oracle's relocation to Texas and credited the state's business-friendly climate, low taxes and strong workforce for what he called the "tidal wave" of businesses relocating to Texas.
In July, Tesla announced it would be building a massive manufacturing facility in the Austin area that would bring about 5,000 jobs to the area.
