Even though thousands of workers file into different businesses at Port San Antonio every day, there have been relatively few places for them to go for lunch.
As of early March, gourmet foods, burgers and ethnic specialties are offered at the Port in the form of the newest food truck court. Each Tuesday and Thursday at the corner of General Hudnell and Billy Mitchell Boulevard the trucks park for lunch.
Port San Antonio CEO Bruce Miller said launching a quality program like that of the San Antonio Food Truck Association allows the growing port to experiment with what works -- and will inform how they continue growing the port’s future amenities.
The food trucks offer traditional burgers, salads, and pizzas, and specialty foods like fresh crab cakes and Mediterranean fare. Three vendors each day will rotate among the 30 food truck association members.
Miller said they are looking for customer feedback on hours and favorite trucks. He said more than 1,000 meals were served in the first four days of the food court’s opening.
