Sacred Art, Brews & Blooms, Jazz In The Park: Your Weekend's Here!

The Sacred Art of Altars exhibit is currently at the Bijou Theater through September 28. Sixty artists were given 10-by-14-inch boxes, which each artist used to create an altar.

"Each one is very specifically unique to the artist and their personal spiritual feelings and selections, choices," Zet Baer says.

They are all on display at the Bijou in the Wonderland of the Americas Mall. On September 28th, the public has the get a chance to bid on, and maybe own, one of the custom pieces.

"We close the silent bidding. We have a reception with a light buffet, we do a special screening of Kubo and the Two Strings," he says, mentioning the 2016 award-winning animated film.

Seeing the altars is free but that reception is a ticketed event.

"We're promoting the craft brew scene that's blossoming here in San Antonio," Connie Swann of the San Antonio Botanical Garden explains.

And what better title for that than "Brews and Blooms?"

"A lot of the local craft breweries come and showcase their seasonal beers," she says.

Summer is loosening its grip on the garden for everyone to see.

"We have tons of blooms, the butterflies are coming out," Swann says.

Organizers recommend that visitors buy tickets online, as the event may sell out.
