Storms Wreck Homes, Businesses Throughout North Texas

Communities outside ofGranburyandCleburneare also reeling from last night’s chain of powerful storms.

Dozens of buildings in the City of Ennis were damaged, including businesses in the central downtown area. Lt. David Anthony with the Ennis Police Department says one elderly woman was hit with flying debris and taken to the hospital as a precaution. As far as he knows, her injuries are minor.

Anthony says several downtown buildings are now structurally unsafe. Businesses along I-45 were also damaged as well as homes on the east side of town. As of 10:30 this morning, power was close to fully restored.

The City of Highland Park had at least three major trees uprooted, including one that fell on a house in the 4600 block of Fairfax Avenue. Another tree pulled up part of the sidewalk and blocked the intersection of Stratford and Oxford. Parks Department crews were called in overnight to clear blocked streets and assess damage.
