When the remnants of the church were found downtown, the San Antonio River Foundation decided to celebrate its legacy with art.

The African Methodist Episcopalian Church foundations are becoming stabilized and the San Pedro Creek Culture Park moves forward.

An archaeological dig on the banks of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park in the west end of downtown San Antonio has unearthed the cornerstone of the post Civil War-era St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Members of the public can now share their thoughts on how to preserve the historic St. James AME Church foundation in downtown San Antonio.
