If SAY Sí doesn’t raise $600,000 by June, it will likely have to cut its summer arts programming for students.

Board President Jason Moran added that the board stood by its values and hoped upcoming bargaining sessions will be productive.

Following the SAY Sí board of directors’ decision to offer voluntary recognition to the workers’ proposed bargaining unit at the end of February, workers are now asking for community support as they prepare to negotiate their first contract.

The board had argued that a dozen of the proposed workers in the unit should be excluded. Region 16 of the National Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of the workers.

Workers said Ogletree Deakins has a history of union-busting and voter suppression, which they said contrasted with the organization's values.

In a statement, a SAY Sí spokesperson denied the board was against the union.
