Do you know that song that goes, "Mud, Mud glorious mud, nothing quite like it for cooling the blood?" Well, should you find yourself in the vicinity of South Korea next weekend, you might put it to the test. For in little over a week, thousands of happy people will cavort and enjoy covering themselves in grey, sticky mud. It’s the Boryeong Mud Festival, which started as a vehicle for selling and promoting Boryeong Mud Cosmetics. Well, if a little helps smooth the wrinkles, what will a lot do? The festival creates lots of good, though I can’t say "clean," fun. This is a family-friendly event which delights children of all ages.
And if grey isn’t your color, never fear--you can choose from five different colors of mud to match your eyes, hair, whatever. Leave the cameras at home and forget credit cards because cash reigns at all the food tents.
You can hear more about this and other celebrations happening around the world every Saturday night on World Music with Deirdre Saravia, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on KSTX 89.1 FM.
