America’s relationship with Ukraine has been under intense scrutiny over the last six months amid allegations of corruption and a quid pro quo agreement between both heads of state that led to impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Historically, what has been the relationship between the two countries? Has it soured amid the controversy and what does the future hold for the U.S.-Ukraine allyship?

What challenges has Ukraine faced throughout its fraught history and how do these issues continue to affect the country and its role on the world stage?

Guest: Roman Popadiuk, board chair for World Affairs Councils of America and first U.S. Ambassador to the Ukraine
