A recent investigative series by the KSAT 12 Defenders, "Broken Blue," looks into why officers involved in some of SAPD's most notorious firings were later rehired to serve and protect. In one case, an officer who has lost his job 6 different times is fighting for yet another reinstatement.

What is SAPD's code of conduct for officers? Do certain actions constitute automatic dismissal? What recourse do police officers have when accused of problematic or illegal behavior?

How does the arbitration process work in San Antonio? What role does the police union and its agreement with the City of San Antonio play? What level of citizen oversight is involved when a police officer's behavior is in question?
