The Source: Doug Sahm Film Tells 'The Story Of Texas Music'

Doug Sahm is one of eight musicians featured in the "La Música de San Anto" mural (1303 W. Commerce), finished by lead artist David Blancas in 2009."

San Antonio music legend Doug Sahm tricked the world into thinking his band from the Alamo City was part of rock's British invasion. With Augie Meyers, he created a new sound of Tex-Mex music in The Texas Tornados. When will Doug and the Sir Douglas Quintet get their place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

You just can't live in Texas if you don't have a lot of soul. - Doug Sahm

In his 2015 documentary feature, Joe Nick Patoski explores the life and work of Doug Sahm - "the wild man musicians' musician and unsung hero of Texas music." There will be a screening and Q&A with Patoski tonight at the Guadalupe Theater, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Guest: Joe Nick Patoski, acclaimed music journalist and director of "Sir Doug and the Genuine Texas Cosmic Groove"
