The Source: San Antonio River Walk Listed As Park That Changed America In New Doc

A new documentary airing tonight on KLRN highlights "10 Parks that Changed America," and San Antonio's prized River Walk made the cut.

Conceived by Robert Hugman, a 27-year old architect from San Antonio. He wanted control the waters of  the San Antonio River downtown (easing flood concerns), create a walkable river that reflected the Spanish ancestry of the city, while creating an economic engine for shops and businesses.

While often mimicked, the River Walk has never quite been duplicated. It represents a new way of thinking about city parks, that they can pay for themselves, and also that they can
