The Source: Latest Salvo Goes Federal In Paxton Legal Saga

The Securities and Exchange commission has charged Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton with fraud. You can read TPR's coverage here. The SEC's civil charges come as Paxton battles the state on criminal fraud charges.

Philip Hilder, one of Paxton's attorneys, describes the SEC chrages as a mop up job and accuses them of "piliing on." He acknowledged the charges due pose a problem perception wise for his client. Everyone from NPR to the Wall Street Journal have reported on the legal troubles of the state's top lawyer. While shouts of resignation resound from the state's left, GOP leaders have yet to suggest Paxton should step down.
