Books have stiff competition for the eyes of today's youth. Personal phones and computers take up 6 hours or more of the average kids day, up dramatically from 20 years ago. Youth spend less than 15 minutes a day leisure reading, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
So is it possible for books to have the same life-changing impact on today's youth?
One reporter wanted to find out, so David Denby went to three schools to find out what books - if any - were resonating with today's youth.
