The Source: Taylor Doesn't Rule Out Run For Mayor In May
On July 22 the members of the San Antonio City Council held a special election to fill the vacant position for Mayor. After council members Ivy Taylor and Ray Lopez split the vote 5-3 in favor of Taylor, Lopez withdrew from consideration, and Taylor was elected with a 9-0 vote. The term runs to May when city elections will be held - that's about six months from now.
And starting Oct 28 at 5 pm Mayor Taylor will kick off a listening tour of San Antonio at the Mission Trails library.
Or you could say she's kicking it off here on The Source.
When asked about observations that the listening tour is inspiring City Hall watchers to wonder about her political ambitions, Taylor did not rule out a run for mayor in May. During the July council selection process it was understood that Taylor would not seek the office. However, during the interview Taylor clarified her position saying that in July she "was not considering running for mayor." She left open the option that now she is considering the campaign, but sidestepped a definitive answer.
