The Source: CPS Energy's Smart Meters Are Coming

CPS Energy

CPS Energy will be rolling out its new smart meters in four neighborhoods this summer. The meters communicate via radio frequency to the company directly on usage, which lowers costs and increases accuracy.

The company has been taken to task in past months over their billing problems. The company estimates usage in several areas.

The company hopes the new meters will address many of those problems. According to the city-owned utility the smart grid program is the biggest project they have taken on since 2010, with a price tag of $290 million.
