In the first segment:
On Saturday, downtown San Antonio will be filled with an estimated 1,000 armed men and women espousing their right to carry openly rifles and shotguns. "Come and Take It San Antonio!" has billed itself as a peaceful march and open carry event at the site of the Alamo.
State Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson will be on hand to deliver the keynote speech. His office granted the permit for the protest at the Alamo, which for decades under different supervision had not allowed protest or rallies.
Organizers said the event will be a safe one encouraging families to attend. Open Carry Texas' Vice President, Jason Orsek, joins us to talk about the event.
Also joining us is an organizer from a counter event, Michelle Green with Mom's Demand Action for Gun Sense. What's being described as an "alternative gathering for gun sense," will be hosted at Alamo Eat Street Bar on South Alamo.
In the second segment:
The state legislature wants to use money from the Rainy Day Fund -- $2 billion dollars of it -- for water-specific projects. Proposition 6 on the upcoming November ballot asks citizens to okay the plan.
Last week we heard from State Rep. Lyle Larson and Nature Conservancy Government Liaison Chloe Lieberknecht on why it is necessary. Today we hear from state comptroller candidate Debra Medina and Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom representative Terri Hall on why voters should vote "no."
