It was Oct. 15, 2015. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in San Antonio, holding a rally with then-Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, the Alamo City's former mayor.

Since then, Castro exited his cabinet position. He joins us to discuss his time on the campaign trail, as well his own possible presidential run in 2020.

During Clinton's campaign stop in San Antonio, it was reported that she was taking a hard look at Castro to serve as her vice president.

"Well, I think really highly of him and I am thrilled to have his endorsement today," said Clinton at an event with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "Both he and his brother — the congressman — are just among the best young leaders in America, regardless of category or the fact that they come from San Antonio.

"So I am going to look hard at him for anything because that how good he is."

And then when Clinton spoke to the enthusiastic crowd at her campaign rally, Castro — positioned a few feet to her side — punctuated her talking points with well-timed nods, applause and fist pumps.

"Through the years, she has always, always been there for us and today we are here for her," Castro told the crowd.

While it appeared like an audition for vice president, Clinton would ultimately select Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate.

Castro discusses this period of life, as well as his autobiography, "An Unlikely Journey: Waking Up from My American Dream."
