Worth Repeating: Theresa Learns To Balance Parent's Wishes And Personal Goals

Pablo Navarro

Theresa Ho learned through the tenets of hard work and tenacity from watching her immigrant parents. In order to care for their family, both of Theresa’s parents worked multiple jobs to make ends meet.

Striving for the best was the ultimate goal, however the best often comes at a price. The toll of trying to be perfect and trying to live up to the high standards her parents set manifested itself in many ways, including hair loss.

The breaking point for Theresa was finding the balance between making her parents proud and finding space for her own desires. These two goals were not mutually exclusive knowing that the only thing Theresa’s parents wanted all along was for their children to be happy, healthy and well adjusted.
