Taco Y Mas Festival

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Third Annual Taco Fest: Music Y Más has been postponed until further notice. Taco Fest: Music Y Más was scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at The University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown Campus.

Woodlawn Theater UPDATE

In compliance with the Center for Disease Control's recommendation, and Mayor Nirenberg's request of limiting gatherings of more than 50 people, Woodlawn Theatre will be postponing On Your Feet, Godspell, Jr. and School of Rock. We are currently looking at other dates so that we may bring these amazing productions to the Woodlawn stage and continue our goal of providing high quality entertainment to San Antonio audiences. Once new dates have been determined, those who have already purchased tickets can exchange them for a new date by emailing us at: info@woodlawntheatre.org.

Please note that we will be limiting our staff until further notice and appreciate your patience with this. In addition, we ask that instead of requesting a refund, for you to please consider donating your ticket purchase. As a nonprofit, we are trying to lessen the financial effects during this trying time.

The Woodlawn Theatre Academy will be postponing all rehearsals until further notice. All Academy in-person classes will transfer to online only classes beginning March 23rd. More information to come on this transition soon.

Blue Star Contemporary UPDATE

Blue Star Contemporary is now closed until further notice.

The Public Theater UPDATE

Based on the recommendation of the CDC, the WHO, and local city officials: For the health and safety of our patrons, production members, and staff we have decided to postpone our production of Bright Star until April 24th (or later as governed). We are postponing the current production of Admissions until further notice. The production of Bright Star will return with a strong five week run and we anticipate an encore performance of Admissions.

This schedule change makes a significant financial impact on the organization as well as impacts the future programs.  We will be delaying the production of Lonely Planet until further notice and cancelling More Better Beautiful.  We will cancel the production of Amelie but are hopeful to produce a concert version. We are investigating live video-streamed reading workshops of More Better Beautiful.  The productions of Into the Woods and Fade remain on schedule.

The theater will be operating with limited staff until April 13th.  Many arts organizations are facing heavy burdens due to lack of revenue and attendance caused by the important need to reduce the spread of the Corona virus.  The Public Theater will be diligent with its mission and vision to create professional theater in San Antonio and Bexar County. We will honor all exchanges among the various production titles.  We ask for your patience and kindness during these confusing times.  If you are contemplating a refund, we encourage you (if able) to consider your ticket as contribution to the theater.

We will directly email patrons regarding the status of each performance as details are confirmed. Mexican Cultural Institute

In light of growing concerns surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the San Antonio-Mexico Friendship Council and its community partners regret to inform you that we are postponing the welcome reception for Consul General of Mexico Rubén Minutti Zanatta, scheduled for next Tuesday, March 17 at the Mexican Cultural Institute.

Like all organizations in our community whose events have also been impacted, we and our partners want to exercise an abundance of caution in protecting our event guests and the general public.

We look forward to rescheduling this reception in the near future and providing a warm and generous welcome to our new Consul General.

Briscoe Western Art Museum UPDATE

The safety and well-being of our visitors, members, staff, and our community is our top priority. Due to increasing health concerns and local, state and national guidance and emergency orders, our galleries and McNutt Sculpture Garden are temporarily closed until further notice.
The closure will also effect the events surrounding the 2020 Night of Artists opening weekend. While the events are cancelled, we are excited to bring Night of Artists to life like never before, with a virtual exhibition and sale everyone can enjoy. Stay tuned for more details on our websiteand social media as we’re optimistic that this sale will be further reaching than ever.

We are continuously monitoring the situation and will follow the updates and guidelines issued by health officials. We will continue to keep you informed about the Briscoe through our website and social media, and look forward to sharing our plans to reopen. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you again as soon as possible.

The San Antonio Botanical Garden

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is actively monitoring the development of the novel COVID-19. The Botanical Garden’s top priority is the health and safety of visitors, volunteers, staff and the collection of plants. The Botanical Garden will continue to be open during regular business hours (Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturday – Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Since the early outbreak of the virus, the Botanical Garden has been adhering to the protocols and best practices outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the City of San Antonio’s Metropolitan Health Department.

                                               8th Annual Book Festival Canceled

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the city’s announcement today, the 8th annual San Antonio Book Festival and Lit Crawl San Antonio, which were scheduled to take place on April 4 and 3, respectively, have been canceled. We fully support the City of San Antonio’s decision on erring on the side of caution and will follow its guidelines to help contain this disease. We strongly believe in fostering the literary community and bringing writers and readers together in person, but protecting the health and safety of the community is of the utmost importance right now.

Many of our writers need to fly to San Antonio from other parts of America, requiring flights and hotel stays. Public health experts across the board state that social distancing, including limiting nonessential travel, is crucial to minimizing the virus, which influenced our decision to cancel. Due to the nature of operations and writers’ schedules, it’s unfortunately not possible to postpone the festival to a later date but we look forward to next year’s event scheduled for April 10, 2021.

The Book Appétit Literary Feast featuring Amor Towles scheduled for April 2 has been rescheduled for November 30. Festival staff will contact table sponsors shortly.

Ruby City

Due to the recent developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), I am writing to let you know we have decided to close Ruby City to the public starting Saturday, March 14th until further notice. This was done with a heavy heart but I believe it is the best option for the well-being of our community which includes visitors, partners and staff. The decision to close was based on many conversations with staff and peer institutions as well as recommendations from public healthcare experts. This ongoing health crisis is a lot to take in but we remain vigilant to the situation.

At this time we are postponing all remaining events in March, including Thursday’s Gallery Talk with Ethel Shipton and the CAMMIE AWARDS scheduled for Friday, March 27th. Our sound performance on April 30th with Ballroom Marfa and Les Filles de Illighadad is also postponed until 2021 due to travel restrictions and concerns.

At Ruby City we want to both limit exposure and adhere to our mission of being accessible to the public, especially in such worrisome times. While the galleries and gardens won't be open we will make sure to keep our social media outlets active. Look for special, new virtual tours of the galleries, segments on works from the collection and information on forthcoming exhibitions. Please check our website and social media regularly to stay connected to Ruby City.

As of March 17, the park Visitor Center at Mission San Jose and the visitor contact stations at Missions Concepcion, San Juan and Espada, are closed until further notice. Public restrooms will continue to be open during normal business hours. Park rangers will engage with visitors outside per social distancing guidance. Visitors can also continue to interact with park staff online through the park website, www.nps.gov/saan, and on our social media.

The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at Mission Heritage Partners and Western National Parks Association is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working with the federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels.

The NPS urges visitors to do their part when visiting the park and to follow CDC guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by maintaining a safe distance between yourself and other groups; washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; and most importantly, staying home if you feel sick.

For high-risk populations, such as the elderly and people with underlying conditions, we ask that they take extra caution and follow CDC guidance for those at higher risk of serious illness. Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
