The Texas Democratic Convention is in full swing in San Antonio.

Tonight's keynote speaker is HUD Secretary and former Mayor Julian Castro who just revealed some big news in a press conference. Castro announced that he is no longer being vetted as a vice presidential candidate for Hillary Clinton.

"I am not being vetted right now," he said. "That is Senator Clinton's choice and she's run a fantastic campaign."

He went on to say, "I'm very confident she will make a prudent and great selection for vice president," he said.

He doesn’t plan to run for Texas governor in 2018, he said. Even though Bernie  Sanders hasn’t formally ended his campaign Castro expects Sanders and most of his backers to support Clinton.

"Given the fact that they met earlier this week and they have pledged to work together, the vast, vast majority of Democrats are going to come together and support Secretary Clinton. You can already see some of that in the more recent polling," he said.

When Castro gives the  keynote speech at the convention tonight he’ll call on Democrats to unify behind Hillary Clinton.
