UTSA’s National Security Collaboration Centerwill focus on positioning San Antonio as a major player in cyber advancement under the direction of one of the country's foremost leaders for national security and cyber strategy, Brigadier General (Ret.) Guy Walsh.

The need for increased cyber resilience is obvious. Evidence of foreign interference in elections has prompted calls to address cyber vulnerabilities in the U.S. electoral process. Businesses and municipal governments have been hacked and held for ransom.

Walsh, a retired United States Air Force general, was handpicked in 2011 to be strategic initiatives lead for the Department of Defense's U.S. Cyber Command.

Under his leadership, the NSCC will have a multi-tier cyber strategy that builds on the university’s existing cybersecurity program, boosting cyber research, cultivating workforce talent in data intelligence and cybersecurity, and increasing coordination with industry, academic and government partners.

In a world where the internet of things is ever expanding, how will the NSCC provide vision and advancement for cyber technologies? How will Guy Walsh measure its success?

Why is San Antonio uniquely positioned to lead the way in cyber advances?

Guest: Guy Walsh, executive director of the National Security Collaboration Center at the University of Texas at San Antonio
