TCU Quarterback Arrested For Assault, Suspended From Alamo Bowl

Fort Worth Star-Telegram

TCU football Coach Gary Patterson has suspended quarterback Trevone Boykin from playing in Saturday's Alamo Bowl after San Antonio police charged Boykin with felony assault for striking an officer early Thursday morning.

A police report said Boykin, 22, was fighting with employees at a bar near the city’s Riverwalk area shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday.  When officers responded punches were thrown and the officer was hit. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the officer had facial abrasions but is otherwise fine.

Patterson said he has suspended Boykin and receiver Preston Miller from playing in the Bowl game with Oregon because the players violated team rules.

Boykin is a Heisman Trophy contender who has set passing records for the Horned Frogs. He was released on $5,000 bond.
