University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa announced that he had accepted the resignation of UT Austin President Bill Powers.

Powers has agreed to step down as president in June 2015, after the next legislative session.

Powers is a witnesses in the Legislature’s impeachment investigation of UT Board of Regent Wallace Hall, who had launched his own investigation of whether Powers had been involved with admissions fixing for certain state lawmakers.

Hall’s report and a more comprehensive admissions fixing investigation showed no wrongdoing had occurred, but Cigarroa wrote in an emailed statement that these past years of accusations and investigations strained the board's relationship with Powers.

"The past years have not been without struggle and, at times, conflict and controversy. There was no single incident that prompted my decision to ask President Powers for his resignation last week, but a long history of issues with communication, responsiveness and a willingness to collaborate”

Ryan started his radio career in 2002 working for Austin’s News Radio KLBJ-AM as a show producer for the station's organic gardening shows. This slowly evolved into a role as the morning show producer and later as the group’s executive producer.
