CPS Energy CEO and President Doyle Beneby is stepping down.  Beneby announced this week that his last day will be September 30 because he's accepting another job.

During a conference call with the media on Wednesday, Beneby would not reveal where he is going.  “There’s nothing coy about it at all,” said Beneby.

“I wanted to give my future employer an opportunity to construct a regime for an announcement themselves. At the same time I wanted to respect that desire, I also wanted to make it public here as soon as I could so that the board could get about the business of formally beginning to consider what happens next.  And it’s very difficult to do those two things at the same time.”

Beneby did say that his new position will be in the field of renewable energy.

He joined CPS Energy in 2010 after serving as president of Exelon Power.

Steve joined the Texas Public Radio news team in 2009, and serves as TPR's Assistant News Director and afternoon anchor. You can hear him Monday-Friday from 3-7pm on KSTX 89.1 FM.
