Food Bank Has Plenty Of Food, Needs Volunteers To Help Distribute

San Antonio Food Bank

The San Antonio Food Bank is asking for the public’s help as the need for volunteers is critical over the next 12 weeks.

Thousands of children who participate in the national school breakfast and lunch program won’t be getting those meals during summer vacation.

The National Association of Letter Carriers raised half a million pounds of food on May 11, and now the San Antonio Food Bank is strategizing the delivery of that food.

The first need is for volunteers to help out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, morning or afternoon shifts. The urgent need is Wednesday afternoons and evenings, and Saturday morning and afternoon shifts.

The food bank will deliver 365,000 meals during the months of June through August.
