The San Antonio Art League + Museum (SAAL+M) proudly announces acclaimed fiber artist Susie Monday as its 2025 Artist of the Year, honoring her visionary work and lifelong contributions to the arts. This prestigious award, established in 1946, celebrates excellence across all artistic disciplines and this year shines a much-deserved spotlight on the expressive power of fiber art.
Selected by a distinguished panel of national and international jurors, Monday’s recognition marks a milestone for both the artist and the regional fiber arts community. Her work—rich with color, symbolism, and cultural storytelling—has captivated audiences and elevated textile collage and surface design to new artistic heights.

NOTE: SAAL+M is open Tue-Sat, 10 am to 3 pm.

The Briscoe is excited to invite guests and members of the museum to participate in our community Ofrenda (Altar) in celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

The Day of the Dead Holiday is thought to have grown from Indigenous origins blending with European traditions in Mexico and today is a national symbol of Mexican and Mexican-American heritage.

The Briscoe’s Ofrenda commemorates loved ones of the museum’s staff, community and the West. Museum guests and members are invited to add photos of lost loved ones and your personal offering.

The Bugs, Bikes, & Botany: Nature Adventure Kit Program invites families to experience the Mission Reach from a whole new angle—a bug’s-eye view! Brought to you by the San Antonio River Foundation, BiblioTech and San Antonio BCycle, with support from PeopleForBikes and the Better Bike Share Partnership, this program is your ticket to a wilder side of San Antonio, where each bike ride introduces you to both our city’s unique nature and the perks of using BCycle, San Antonio’s bikeshare system.

Join us at the Collins Garden library for a delightful family afternoon filled with lively games of Lotería as we embrace the enchanting spirit of Halloween! Enjoy the fun, laughter, and togetherness in a festive atmosphere. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

This month we are reading “Starling House” by Alix E. Harrow. Eden, Kentucky is known for only one thing, a reclusive 19th century author and the Starling House that she left behind. And everyone in Eden believes that the house and its only heir, Arthur can rot alone together. Opal on the other hand is doing all she can to get her brother, Jasper, out of Eden, which means maybe taking a job at the Starling House. But then Starling House is starting to feel like home. As sinister forces converge, Arthur and Opal must unbury secrets long forgotten before Eden is taken over by literal nightmares.

We will meet October 13th, 2025 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm to discuss our book of the month. Please see the front desk at the Parman Library for a copy while supplies last.

Our young adult program is for LGBTQ+ adults ages 18-24. This support program will help LGBTQ+ adults and allies come together to talk about the transition to adulthood, life events, community, health and so much more.

Join the City of San Antonio for a behind-the-scenes tour of TVSA Studios. Discover how you can promote your creativity and use free professional equipment to create your own non-commercial programs for San Antonio’s public access channel. Light refreshments will be served.

The South Texas Knockouts is a co-ed junior roller derby league for kids aged 5-17, with a focus on teamwork, athleticism, communication, and inclusivity.

Interested parties can contact us at southtexasskater18@gmail.com to get on the entry list and start waivers. Official onboarding is the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, but any practice is available for a spectator pass to see if it's something your child would be interested in.

The regular 2025/2026 season begins on Sept 15th. Practice is Monday and Wednesday, 7pm-9pm, at Trader's Village.

Club dues are $40/mo for the first skater and $25/mo for each additional skater. Once onboarded, every skater will go through an 8-week boot camp before being sorted into their appropriate skill level.

For interested adults, we also have The South Texas Regulators under the WFTDA for ages 18 and up.

Spectator pass is free for those considering joining. Upon joining, club dues are $40 per month for the first skater and $25 for each additional skater.

Pollinator BioBlitz participants observe and identify pollinators. This virtual event is open to all ages and abilities interested in finding pollinators and nectar-producing plants, taking photos, and sharing with friends! Share observations by posting a photo or video to Instagram, iNaturalist, or the Facebook event page. Pollinator observation challenges and informative links will be emailed to all registered participants regularly to add to the fun.
