Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter Project Worldwide(PWW) -Kammlah Barn clean up

Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter Project Worldwide(PWW) -Kammlah Barn clean up

The Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter will hold its annual community service project, known as Project Worldwide (PWW), on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Kammlah Barn on the grounds of the Gillespie County Historical Society and Pioneer Museum. This year’s project is focused on helping GCHS staff clean out the Kammlah Barn in preparation for additional exhibit space and will be held rain or shine since the Kammlah Barn is enclosed.

Chapter members and volunteers should meet at the Kammlah Barn at 9:45 a.m. on February 22, to hear from GCHS staff about the purpose and process for the cleanup project. Work will begin around 10:00 a.m. and continue into the afternoon. EZ PZ Pizza, owned by Chapter member Greg Perkins, will provide complimentary pizzas for lunch. Water and tea will be available onsite.

Parking is available on West San Antonio Street in front of the GCHS office area and on West Main Street in front of the Pioneer Museum. Those parking on West San Antonio Street should enter on the side gate (look for the Longhorn flag). Those entering from West Main Street should come through the Museum entrance and look for the Chapter banner.

Participants should wear work clothes and footwear appropriate for cleaning activities. Nitrile gloves, microfiber cloths, old towels, and some water buckets will be available; however, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own supplies, especially old towels and buckets.

Project Worldwide is a global initiative of The University of Texas, where Texas Exes Chapters all over the world participate in a day of service to the community. Each Chapter selects its own project each year, and in prior years, the Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter has assisted with the COVID vaccination program, helped clean up the Nature Trail at Lady Bird Park, installed a gazebo at the Fredericksburg High School, participated in a blood drive, and repainted the exterior fence at the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church.

There is no pre-registration required, but Chapter members and volunteers are asked to be on time at 9:45 a.m. to receive the project orientation and instructions. Questions or comments may be directed to Jamie Morris, Chapter President, at 830-992-1796 or jandjmorris.07@gmail.com.
