The League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area, a nonpartisan organization, is sponsoring a contest for high school, and post-secondary undergraduate and graduate students. Winners in each educational level will be awarded a $100 gift card. In addition, each first place work will be published on the LWVSAA website and highlighted on the League’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Submitted works may be in the form of an essay, poem, rap or spoken word performance of no more than 350 words. Participants must submit their written work and may, as an option, submit a performance video, if it will enhance the submission. Participants shall: Register their participation at https://tinyurl.com/LWVSARegister. Provide name, email, academic level, and selected format of submission. Create their work in response to the following prompt: What is your vision of a democratic society? What is your role within this society? Submit the written work, along with the signed consent form, and optional video to picturethis@lwvsa.org by midnight on November 12, 2021. Winners will be notified on December 10, 2021.
