One in a Million 5K Run/Walk
Join the Inaugural One in a Million 5K Run/Walk on September 14, 2024, at beautiful Lady Bird Johnson Park, SATX to bring awareness to Pseudomyoma Peritonei (PMP) and Appendix Cancer. These rare cancers affect 1 in a million people each year.
San Antonian Sheri Doss is grateful to be alive. Wanting to give back to both her local and peer support cancer communities, Sheri created the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk to celebrate her 60th birthday and life beyond Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), closely related to appendix cancer. After undergoing an intense lifesaving surgery, her health returned due, in large part, to her daily walking routine. Sheri wants to encourage others to exercise regularly and inform the community of resources available for PMP and Appendix Cancer patients.
Net proceeds from the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk benefit PMP Pals, a global network of patients and caregivers living beyond an Appendix Cancer diagnosis, and related conditions like PMP which affect the gastrointestinal system, digestion, and nutrition. As you run/walk the course at Lady Bird Johnson Park, educational signage explains this rare cancer without a cure on the rise among young people under 40. We'll share information about early diagnosis, lifesaving treatments, and hope-filled inspiration!
