Music from St. Mark’s presents: Duruflé Requiem

Music from St. Mark’s presents: Duruflé Requiem

Music from St. Mark’s presents Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem on November 3, at 4:00 pm, celebrating the Feast of All Saints’. In nine movements, the work is scored for baritone and mezzo-soprano soloists, mixed choir, orchestra, and organ. The work will be presented by the choir of St. Mark’s under the direction of Jon Johnson. Duruflé completed this masterwork in 1947, and he wrote the following, “I have above all sought to enter into the particular style of Gregorian melodies and have been compelled to reconcile the rhythm with the requirements of modern notation”. Music from St. Mark’s is offered free of charge to the community through the generous support of the St. Cecilia Guild.
