AYA Cancer Foundation San Antonio's Annual Summer Luncheon
AYA Cancer Foundation San Antonio's Annual Summer Luncheon
AYA Cancer Foundation San Antonio (www.ayafsa.org) is a local nonprofit which provides financial support to adolescents and young adults (AYAs), 15 to 39 years, with cancer, in the form of living expenses grants, and payment of noncovered fertility preservation procedures. It also aims to educate healthcare professionals and public about the many medical and psychosocial challenges these young cancer patients face. Our Summer Luncheon is a fundraiser and a celebration of AYAs with cancer, survivors, their caregivers and the healthcare professionals who care for them in our community. This AYA cancer patient population has been historically neglected since most of the attention and resources has been given to children and older adults, even though cancer in this age group occurs 5 to 6 times more often than in children. We will be hosting Dr. Archie Bleyer, world widely recognized as father of the AYA Cancer Movement.
