Father's Day Weekend Holds Big Fun

Much to do on Father's Day weekend in San Antonio. First off tonight head downtown. "It's the kickoff to our Rooftop Jazz series this year." That Artpace's Scott Williams and the rooftop is the 3rd floor roof of Artpace's downtown art museum where on Friday, June 17th, you can hear jazz.

"It's going to be the Doc Watkins Trio. It's the first time we've had anybody back from a previous Rooftop Jazz Concert. Free drinks, great jazz, and one of the best views of the city."

Then in Boerne, all weekend long it's the festival with the funny name--Berges Fest. Here's Jeremiah Bowman.

"Berges Fest is a 50-year-old tradition, this year's our 50th anniversary. It is a German Festival.  We are totally free for parking and entry. We do everything German-themed. We all wear leiderhosen and dirndls. We have just about every beer on the planet. We have Dachsund races, wheelbarrow races, egg toss."

All of that, and a parade.

"We do have one on Saturday morning that starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street.  We have the largest carnival in the state of Texas. The No. 1 rated.  It's just a good time for the whole family, a good family atmosphere."

Berges Fest is happening on the county fairgrounds just east of the city on Highway 46.

Then on Saturday night music from duo Jorge and Nicole.

"We call it acoustic world music...and I play the acoustic bass and he plays the acoustic guitar."

They're playing at a restaurant called Alchemy Combucha and Culture, a vegetarian restaurant.

"And we do different genres like bossa nova, we do some Spanish guitar. We also do a little bit of blues, a little bit of rock."
