Second Saturday Art And Wine In Boerne Looks To Woo You

Boerne will be hopping with art over the weekend for Second Saturday Art and Wine.

“Second Saturday is a show we put on every month, so it happens twelve times a year," said Johny Rosa , who owns Texas Treasures Fine Art Gallery, a Second Saturday participant.

“We have market days down in the square in Boerne. It goes from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.. And then from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. is the gallery tour,” Rosa said.

That gallery tour is the focus of Second Saturday Art and Wine. There are four centrally-located galleries in Boerne, all within walking distance. Although as Rosa notes, you sure don't have to.

“We do have a free trolley that will take you to each location as well. The trolley runs about every 20 minutes to each location,” he said.

The trolley has a peculiar name, "The Shabbybus," Rosa said. But despite its name, the bus is quite nice. "It’s very chic inside," Rosa said.

Visitors to the Second Saturday Art and Wine are encouraged to go from gallery to gallery, making the grand tour.

“We have free wine" said Rosa. "All of us will have food, light hors d'oeuvres. We have wonderful restaurants as well."

Regarding Boerne, Rosa said: "It’s not a stuffy city, it’s not a stuffy gallery setting where you’re all in suits.”

The whole thing has a price that’s hard to beat.

“Well, it’s absolutely free" he said and also said the caliber of art you can find there is surprising, and quite good.

“There are several artists that show nationally throughout the United States that live here in Boerne,” Rosa said.
